ABOUT US - OUR TRAINING

With offices in Ottawa and Toronto

ADULT LEARNING AT ITS FINEST

Our courses and workshops aim to impart a practical hands-on understanding of the material we cover. While we occasionally do use an interactive lecture approach to cover basic theory, our courses and workshops rely heavily on the use of role plays, exercises, small group work, questionnaires, discussions, videos and demonstrations. Because participants are able to discover and experience what they are learning in role plays and exercises, they are able to make up their own minds about what works and what does not work. Each of our role plays and exercises is designed to explore a different facet the course learning objectives. We follow up each role play and exercise with a facilitated discussion in which the participants debate the issues that have arisen and absorb the learning objectives. Participants in our workshops go far beyond ingesting theory. They learn techniques, skills and approaches at a practical level by experiencing and practicing them in a safe and encouraging environment. Our goal is for participants to be able to use the techniques, skills and approaches they learn as they walk out of the course.

ENLIGHTENED BY PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE GAINED IN THE FIELD

As former lead negotiators now practicing as mediators, arbitrators, investigators and conflict management consultants, our trainers know what works and what doesn’t work in the field and have a no nonsense practical approach to dealing with disputes. Conflict management is a quickly evolving art that is best understood in how it is practiced in the real world. Much of the truly interesting and exciting things happening in conflict management are not yet in books. Our trainers are on the cutting edge of what is happening in conflict management.
